Awful game tonight...Doing a different take on this "recap." More like madman notes/ramblings as the game was played:
1st Qtr
Denver gets Lawson back. He quickly pushes the action. You can tell the last few games have gotten to the clippers. Team looks sluggish, esp DJ. Caron doesn't look like his back is bothering him and picks up where he left off before missing the last game. Mo picks up where he left off. CP3 picks up...well, you know. Team finishes the 1st quarter on a 12-2 run! 67% shootin! So much for the team being tired! Missing MILPH, not particularly fond of Marv, but noticed that Kerr was pretty positive on the team, but even he takes a jab at BG about his lack of post moves! (Shaq and CWebb follow this line of poor logic during the half time show too). VDN used the 3 guard lineup of Mo, Billups and CP3 with success.
2nd Qtr
Mo, Caron, Foye, BG and Reggie begin the 2nd quarter. Offense looks stagnant. Mo's jumpers not falling. BG goes out and offense disappears. Miller drives the lane and begins to carve up any sign of a clippers defense. Lawson and Miller's penetration kill the Clippers. TNT actually dedicated a segment of the cast to Miller and how he is a good fit for this team. Karl saying how he wants him to finish his career here. Blah, blah, blah....Lawson is no match for Billups or CP3 and drives and kicks out at will. Billups finished 2 for 9 and is 3 for 17 since last night's game vs Utah! The other 3 guard line up of foye, billups and Mo, not as effective . Looks like CP3 had a clinic on reverse up and under layups because both Mo and Caron had a similar shot this game. After being up by 13 in the 1st, lead is down to 4. Spotted in the crowd: Rhiana, Billy Crystal, and Don Cheadle. Seems like DJ was being bothered by his knee. He got caught running out on a missed layup. Nene and Lawson ended up getting two offensive boards, while he was just standing around. Outscored 35-19 in the quarter.
3rd Qtr
Nice pick-and-roll dunk by BG off a CP3 pass. Gallianari kills any momentum with 2 back to back 3s. VDN finally calls time out after Clippers get down by 14! 17-5 run by Nuggets. Affalo being very physical with CP3. Game is getting out of hand so badly we get our first Gomes sighting of the night. He makes a shot! That is all. Bad, bad 3rd quarter.
4th Qtr
To quote my 8 year old: Do I really have to!? Oatmeal Raisin sighting (finished 0-4)! Down by 20 and I can't believe CP 3 is still in the game with 10 minutes to go! Get him out and put the rookies in! I don't have a problem with this loss. It's bound to happen. Let's not become the typical feast-famine lakers fan. It's a shortened season and it's bound to happen to them again. It's what I get for doing a Groundhog day game! JUMBACO time!

Although that is a very weak, and unenthusiastic first....

The Denver Nuggets were deadly with their double teams and traps.
Also Rihanna was at the game courtside. She’s been to several games now… guess she’s a fan?
shay - February 2, 2012
Maybe Ryan Gomes?
JackduhSun - February 3, 2012
I think she's a friend of Blake's
she could be a new fan.
Has Jessica Alba gone to any games post-Baron?
ClipperChuck - February 3, 2012
Other years I would simply say after a game like this "we suck"
But I think we can just say it was one of those games. The schedule takes a toll of you at a point and that’s truer in a compressed 66 game schedule. I don’t want to make any excuses, aside from the first quarter we were terrible. VDNs rotations TERRIBLE, Cook TERRIBLE, Gomes OMG HE SCORED A THREE! MOMMA, THERE GOES THAT MAN! Is it just me, or does it seem that Foye and Gomes play better when the games are pretty much lost?
Jayq - February 2, 2012
They (gomes, foye) always play better when the pressure is off, they're not pressure players.
I believe Foye has the talent to help the second unit but he’s not a pressure player therefore…..
ThaFoX - February 3, 2012 via Android app
Then I'll make an excuse
Four games in five days is plain tough. I plan to do some research on this. I don’t expect to find too many teams having success on that 5th day.
What I really worry about is our March schedule. At one point, we’ll play 9 games in 12 days. Embedded in that is a stretch of 7 games in 9 days. That’s a back to back, followed by a b to b to b, followed by a back to back.
We ought to pick up another player just in anticipation of that stretch. Vinnie will have to think in terms of week long rotations, staggering days off for different players.

im sadder than i should be
these losses dictate my mood way too much
shap - February 2, 2012
this is what my ex used to tell me
except that was back in the days before chris paul. Lot of sad days and nights.
T_Silk - February 2, 2012
Clippers win, she gets some
Clippers lose, bitch gonn’ get it. Now imagine when the Clippers only won 19 times..
JackduhSun - February 3, 2012
Also I hope I wake up tomorrow to the news of Kenyon Martin signing with the Clips because I never what to see Cook playing again.
shay - February 2, 2012
So yeah, we really need you Kenyon Martin!
As well as J.R. Smith!
ClipperBEAST - February 2, 2012
Today we truly showed Kenyon Martin belongs in a Clip uni
I hope he watched the game, because he will clearly be the first big off the bench. He is likely to play +20 minutes every game. He will get some nice coin and the Clips are the perfect team for him to showcase his worth in order to land a contract next season! Martin will be a Clip!

What up cuh
Dawool Huh - February 3, 2012
sweet prediction
and Atlanta couldn’t offer more money. And the word is done.
Of course, at this points, we all know that you are simply a troll.
LJ Hann - February 3, 2012
This condensed schedule means blowouts every night
Utah also got killed by 18 to GS and Memphis beat Atlanta by 19.
PV Mike - February 2, 2012
Yep, contenders are losing games they would otherwise win
Jayq - February 2, 2012
Blazers too
Lose to Kings. Ouch.
cassellmania - February 3, 2012
I wouldn't call UTAH, POR, or even ATL contenders
The Utah and Portland losses were on the road and ATL has arguably a worse bench than ours and is down an All-Star.
We’re a good team right now with hints of greatness, but great teams don’t get blow out on their home floor.
ganima - February 3, 2012
in this compressed season and with this bench
it will happen.
BelgianClipper - February 3, 2012
Didn't say otherwise
It has happened and will happen to us as a good team, but if you look at the true contenders like Miami, Chicago and OKC, they’ve yet to get blown out at home and barring a catastrophic injury doubtful if it will.
ganima - February 3, 2012
This type of season blow outs on...
the home teams court are gonna happen more often because of the condensed schedule…. we need to realize that but not worry about it too much.
ThaFoX - February 3, 2012 via Android app
nuggets have yet to be blown out,.
Patrick KB. Nugget - February 3, 2012
benefits of having a deep roster I guess
Curious to see what you’ll do during the play-offs. Play-offs tends to favor top heavy teams playing at a slower pace but during this frantic season , who knows?
BelgianClipper - February 3, 2012
It will happen, maybe during this current trip
they just began. Possibly in Portland coming up if the Blazers are rested are rested.
PV Mike - February 3, 2012
I am deeply impressed by our team's start to the season
The expectations has been high, but the guys have still managed to surprise and bring great excitement to Clipper Nation. One of the things that has impressed me the most, is how we have managed to get big results in games against teams from the top of the league, and I believe we have had a really tough schedule team-wise. Hopefully we’ll do well in the upcoming games on the road – tough loss today guys, but we will have to expect these games under this seasons circumstances
Pawn - February 2, 2012
Sorry, but I saw this and felt like I had to share it.
On a SSR Thread about possible additions:
I just found so many thing wrongs with it that I just needed to show it to the Clipper fans. Does anyone else find this completely absurd? Oh yeah, they also have amazing faith in Glock. When Supernerd posted that they could offer Glock for Williams, another fan replied, “Uh no.” Is it just me, or does this kid fall under the same Laker bench issue; they have a couple of hot nights and all of a sudden they are extremely valuable?
SurfinQ00 - February 2, 2012
U Talking About LA Gridlock?
Can’t believe the Clippers lost this.
After the first quarter I thought the Clippers were going to blow them out even with Lawson. I turned it off for some old SG-1 rerun etc Now come to find out .
It still was a blow out but just in the wrong direction. Good choice to turn it off or else I may have destroyed my TV.
Schedule is starting to where on guys like Billups
Buddahfan - February 2, 2012
I expected a loss
4th game in 5 nights, all against good teams, and our top 6 have been logging heavy minutes.
Going 3-1 in that stretch is fantastic, but with the team entering a difficult stretch of the season, lack of depth is really going to be an issue. We need a big like K Mart and another decent swingman to come in and take pressure off these guys.
cassellmania - February 3, 2012
KMart Would Help

Pawn - February 2, 2012
Is anyone comfortable with a lead at the end of the first quarter? I know I’m sure as shit not. We suck in the 2nd.
FlyByKnight - February 2, 2012
I don't think any team should be comfortable with a 1st qtr lead
Its a game of runs, look at the Heat yesterday in Milwaukee. Looked like another easy win for them, but ended up in a L.
cassellmania - February 3, 2012
Not just that
if we were up by 20, I’d loosen up a bit.
But whenever the Clippers leader by 10-15 in the first 7-8 minutes, for some magnificent reason, they haven’t been able to uphold it.
JackduhSun - February 3, 2012
why didnt bledsoe get any burn tonight?
I wonder if he’s being dangled for something…
banandy - February 3, 2012
Apparently he tweaked his knee in collision with either Leslie or Thompkins

I hope we do not have another EJ situation with him.
PV Mike - February 3, 2012
Was at the game tonight.
- Crowd was great in the first half and still had some intensity in the 3rd quarter, but kinda died out when it was pretty obvious Clippers were giving up.
- Sat next to a big crowd of Koreans who were not really into the game. They were on their phones most of the time.
- Behind me was this really obnoxious dude whose a huge Gallinari fan.
- Blake’s dunks always got the whole building going crazy.
All in all, great atmosphere as always at Staples Center, just wished we pulled out with a win.
peterghost - February 3, 2012
Was Donald Sterling booing Chauncey?
PV Mike - February 3, 2012
LOL
Buddahfan - February 3, 2012
Were the phones Samsung? LOL
Buddahfan - February 3, 2012
I would have left the game early
so would not get stuck driving behind them on the freeway!
PV Mike - February 3, 2012
That's a whole lot of combined kimchie breath
ganima - February 3, 2012
Few things I noticed from the game last night
1 – Denver was way too physical and the refs let them play. Clippers need to toughen up a bit and play physical, too. The Clippers seemed too complacent on both sides.
2 – When the jump shots aren’t falling, the Clippers get desperate and shoot even more contested jumpers. When shots aren’t falling, let CP3 setup a easy play or let BG go to work in the post.
3 – Transition defense was horrible. I feel like this is what gave the game away in 2nd and 3rd quarters. Need to get back on D and complain to the refs later.
dan73962 - February 3, 2012
Clips were tired which isn't a great sign with this shortened quick season but they'll be fine.
We scored 32 points the first quarter and 35 the 2nd & 3rd quarter combined. It’s just one of those nights. Our bench gave up the lead in the 2nd, our starters couldn’t do anything to get it back in the 3rd. Cookie played the 4th enough said. Plus it’s hard to beat the same good team twice in 1 week. We’ll get ’em next time. On to get a winning record on this road trip.
chrisd - February 3, 2012
freakin andre
Did anyone else see this?
It’s from the Yahoo recap.
I really hate that guy. Why is everyone always after Blake, especially Andre Miller. He’s just jealous…
DannyDodger - February 3, 2012
Also I’m ok with this loss, it was bound to happen. Too many games too few nights..I mean I’m not happy but it happens..
DannyDodger - February 3, 2012
.......asshole!
there, I finished your statement!
ThaFoX - February 3, 2012 via Android app
Tough loss.
I was really hoping to see the Clips go into these next 6 road games with the momentum on their side. Oh well. Time to lick our wounds and hope we can come out of this next stretch 4-2 or even 5-1.
SoCalBoltFan - February 3, 2012
I'll take 4-2...
…but no less. 5-1 is realistic. Just heard KMart is on his way, two weeks early.
