Clippers Beat Down Wizards 102-84: Nothing's Easy (Quick Notes)

A quick confession. I didn't see the game... well, I saw bits and pieces, but I only just realized no one had picked up the recap. Maybe Steve is preparing a post. I'm not sure. Anyway, I'll make some quick observations... and someone will be back with more later:

- The Washington Wizards are a better team than we expected. The coaching change seems to have helped and the team is playing with heart and passion. They were in it up until the fourth quarter. They're still young and don't have first rate talent but they've got some players, John Wall, Javale McGee, Nick Young all look like real NBA rotation players. I didn't feel that way when the Clips played them in Washington two weeks ago.

- Wow... what a difference Kenyon Martin has made. The Clippers suddenly seem to have an effective bench. Who knew what Martin might bring. His stats in the Chinese league were unimpressive. We wondered if he would be in shape or had anything left at the age of 34. But he seems to be in great shape, and plays a physical, heady game. He's worked himself into the rotation seamlessly in just a couple of games.

- That very same Kenyon Martin has taken minutes not just from Ryan Gomes, but from Reggie Evans and from 43 million dollar DeAndre Jordan. Interesting.

- The Clipper braintrust seems to be carefully controlling Chris Paul's minutes. Not sure why, but, with a game tomorrow night it can't be a bad thing.

Here's the box. More later, maybe from me, maybe someone else.

nice to see kenyon fit in so quickly

cant wait till Bledsoe catches up. Love that guy…

If C.Paul minutes are limited, a win's margin will likewise be limited

Still nice to get the wins we need to win.

18 point win?

I’ll take that any evening

In a vacuum, definitely
In the end it was still quite easy

Don’t know if it was intentionally but VDN spared the starters in the first half, putting out one of the most weird mismatches ever:Mo,Paul, Bledsoe, Evans and Keyon. Rashad Lewis was guarded by a 6’ guard …

If they pick up JR Smith...

…and he plays like we’ve seen him, they’ll be very deep and will be definite contenders for the Western Conference. Bledsoe looks very bad out there! Nothing close to what we saw him do last year. I hope he’s OK.

Seems like Bledsoe lost his explosiveness

I believe it’s merely a side effect of his injury. Still, he neds to quickly needs to get his mojo back or he will be lost in the bench.

I don't know if it was a matter of losing his explosiveness

or not having the ability to show it.

I actually seen him do that a lot last year.
not good.
Fried chicken part deuce!

Gomes

Did anyone notice him play? I saw the box score and noticed he played a minute and fifty…but I just don’t remember him at all. strange

It was early in the second quarter, I think

He looked so disinterested out there.

Holy crap seriously???

i didnt even see him play!!! damn i feel bad now!! ive always liked Gomes! I thought he looked better then he ever has physically but its just not translating on the court.

I didn't see him play at all but apparently he did

gomes

Bench looking improved...

KMart has immediately improved this team as a whole, Evans is what he is, a rebounding machine and nothing else, and Mo is a candidate for 6th Man of the Year..But with Bledsoe struggling, and still no actual Center, I wonder if VDN plans on keeping the strange 3 Forward/3 Guard rotations going, or if the FO actually plans on fixing this..

I think a wing player, be it JR Smith or someone else

has a higher priority. Blake,DJ,Keyon and Reggie should be more then good enough against 90% of the opponents.

i think i heard on the radio that CP3 banged his knee last game

Nothing serious…but team was going to keep an eye on his minutes…

The more Nick Young shoots the better

He’s the anti-glue guy.

with his twin brother Jordan Crawford.
I wonder how many successful alley-oops they run to players outside of McGee

Seems like no one expects passes inside because they’re always expecting the player to shoot. It became comical after a while.

I think the coaches wanted to limit his minutes.

On a back to back you want to limit his minutes. Im all for it! If hes rested all the more better we will be against portland! and this is one of the away games i really want us to win! So although it didnt look pretty with paul out for long stretches i still think it was the right thing to do…. but i say you need to maybe rest blake a little more.

No he had tweaked his knee
