The Back Story:
First and only meeting of this season. The teams split two games last season, each team winning at home.
The Big Picture:
The full arsenal of Lob City was on display for the first time in the Clippers' Wednesday night win over Houston. The defense still wasn't great in that game, but if the offense plays that well, defense won't matter a lot. Chris Paul was aggressive from the opening tip, Blake Griffin was a beast, the shooters made their shots, and the Clippers looked a lot like the team that citizens dream they can be - an unstoppable juggernaut on offense. It wasn't even that they made shots - they did, and of course that will always help. But they have so many weapons that they GOT great shots all night. And if you get great shots, you're going to make more than you miss. The Clippers need to build on the momentum from that game against a relatively weak opponent tonight. They have a trio of tough games looming next, but they can't afford to look past this one. They have to take care of business, and when doing so figures to be so much fun, then why not?

The Antagonist:
The Bucks are 2-4, and given that they've already had games against Charlotte, Washington, Minnesota and Sacramento, that's not very good. Thursday night in Sacramento they led the Kings by 14 heading into the fourth quarter and lost. The Bucks have been looking for the right combination of players for a few seasons now, but it hardly seems as if this could be the group. In three team off-season trade they acquired Stephen Jackson, Shaun Livingston and Beno Udrih while giving up John Salmons, Corey Maggette and the number 10 pick in the draft which became Jimmer Fredette. Meh. We'll see, but I hardly think Captain Jack is going to be the guy to show Brandon Jennings how to win in the NBA. The Bucks do have what seems to be two good building block pieces, and the two most important positions: Jennings at the point guard, and and the underrated Andrew Bogut at center. But beyond that it's kind of a mishmash, and Bogut won't be playing in this one, so they're going to be at a pretty distinct disadvantage against the Clippers tonight.
The Subplots
From the Urban Dictionary:
buck
v. to get ready to fight
what you tryin to buck

agolden - January 7, 2012
im really looking forward to watching Reggie go after all those loose balls!
big0lbad - January 7, 2012
Ha, right!?
Did Fearless Leader really make that joke in a preview?
2-ScoopIceCream - January 7, 2012
I think our front court is going to have a good game. Delfino is inconsistent. Gooden is nothing special. Leuer is a big man with range and has been surprisingly good this season so far. Jennings shoots a low percentage, but could get hot. Jackson is pretty solid. They don’t have much of a bench either. The Bucks are scrappy and can defend. They will battle to the end. But I think we will beat them. I’m looking forward to seeing Evans play. I want to see Jones as well our other new guy.
tenkaistar - January 7, 2012
SJax made me LOL
when he demanded a contract extension saying it’s “mandatory”, even though he’s old and still has 2 full years left on his current deal. that’s a lot to ask from a player who is not and will never be a winner.
cantthinkofagoodname - January 7, 2012
to be fair he won a title with the spurs
KillaClip - January 7, 2012 via mobile
I read this preview on the Bucks forum on RealGM
It highlights the similarities between the Bucks and the Clippers over the past 20 years.
This is scary.
Lawler 4ever - January 7, 2012
That's...pretty cool
UC.Clipper - January 7, 2012
Interesting stuff!
CLiPPz WeRD 12 - January 7, 2012
I can't believe they failed to mention the Cassell connection
Sam-I-Am led both teams during their best seasons. . .
cassellmania - January 7, 2012
*best season last 20 years (Bucks won the title with Kareem and Oscar)
cassellmania - January 7, 2012
of course...
It’s an interesting comparison, but the author conveniently places the start of the comparison in 1992. The Bucks had 12 straight playoff appearances thru 1991. Those Moncrief teams were great. So during Kohl’s tenure, the Bucks have had sustained success – albeit over 20 years ago. The same cannot be said for Sterling.
Steve Perrin - January 7, 2012
Also...
Also not down with his draft analysis. Andrew Bogut is Benoit Benjamin? Really?
Steve Perrin - January 7, 2012
Time to see the team win games it SHOULD win.
Another new frontier.
UC.Clipper - January 7, 2012
win win win
That’s exactly what needs to get done these next three games.
The end.
I’m only here to state the obvious.

I perceive Milwaukee as one of the few NBA "generic" teams
that if they were not playing the Clippers I would rather pull weeds in Poetland than watch.
PV Mike - January 7, 2012
There are weeds to pull in Poetland?
I figured that mystical place had but one species of weed, whose flowering buds were lovingly harvested by buxom maidens…
boltsfan21 - January 7, 2012
Precisely but we have more than one dreamy variety there.
PV Mike - January 7, 2012
heh heh
You said buxom.

i remember this game so well...
that whole sequence was awesome
indy818 - January 7, 2012
Mo Trivia
He is 3 – 1 in Milwaukee since the Bucks traded him.
He did not play in Milwaukee last season
Buddahfan - January 7, 2012
Random fun fact, saw Sean Livingston at Katsuya last night with a lady friend.
We said hi to him. I hope he does well tonight but of course in a losing effort.
chrisd - January 7, 2012
katsuya, now that's good eating
Dawool Huh - January 7, 2012
Quick!
Without searching it up on Wikipedia or any other sites, name all the teams Chauncey played for. I can only name 4….Boston, Detroit, Minny, Lob City
ClipperBEAST - January 7, 2012
well denver is in there for sure
indy818 - January 7, 2012
and NY knicks for that matter
indy818 - January 7, 2012
Denver twice, right?
boltsfan21 - January 7, 2012
Leslie and Thompkins are finally in NBA 2K12!!
Leslie’s overall is a 63, but he’s an 82 on defense!! Thompkins kinda got low-balled. A 58 overall… Solomon Jones is a 48..
ClipperBEAST - January 7, 2012
I think Thompkins should be about a 64-65
He is a solid shooter and decent on defense. Leslie seems pretty high on defense so I don’t see why we don’t use him in REAL life ;)
SurfinQ00 - January 7, 2012
Thompkins should be rated higher than Leslie
dulciusXasperis - January 7, 2012
I got
had Leslie at 61, trey at 62, solomon at 55…The ratings are all over the place and 2k isn’t doing a very good job with keeping the updated rosters available for download on 2kshare.
LJ Hann - January 7, 2012
I believe the last time Mo Williams played the Bucks he hit the game winner
It was the Day before Thanksgiving of 2010.
NewCavsfan - January 7, 2012
Yep
That game was in Cleveland
Here is the game recap from ESPN
"
Buddahfan - January 7, 2012
I remember that so well
Such a nice shot.
We all thought Jennings was such a tool for saying that.
NewCavsfan - January 7, 2012
Well then Brandon, every shot is lucky
You’re all skilled players and skilled shooters, yet sometimes you shots don’t fall. So every make is lucky.
Thretch - January 7, 2012
Off topic
But what’s up with the NJ/ Brooklyn Nets game? Really, a 12:30 PM tip off on a Monday?
cliptakular - January 7, 2012
Seriously You Don't Know?
Monday Jan 16th is MLK day.
There are now always day games on MLK day.
Buddahfan - January 7, 2012
ohhh yeaaaaa. sweet
Btw, according to brewhoop we are 1st in the league offensively.
cliptakular - January 7, 2012

cliptakular - January 7, 2012
last year on martin luther king day blake went off against indiana for 47 points!
ThaFoX - January 7, 2012 via Android app
+1
Buddahfan - January 7, 2012
and the day before we beat the lakers by 9 pts!
agolden - January 7, 2012
is drew gooden boo-able?
or is that giving him too much attention?
ekker3 - January 7, 2012
Gooden is one of those players
that has been on so many teams you forget if he played for you or not. Also, I hope this is not a trap game as Bogut, Dunleavy, Udrih and probably A Moute are not playing tonite for the Bucks.
You never know about games like this. Stranger things have happened.
PV Mike - January 7, 2012
For those going
applaud when Livingston get’s on the court. Show him that he is still remembered here.
mustang6944 - January 7, 2012
catch me at the nosebleeds tonight ya'll
gonna be high fiving blake griffin every time he goes up for a dunk
peterghost - January 7, 2012
watching Cats/Pacers now...
Indy has a pretty damn solid team….
indy818 - January 7, 2012
I'm hoping my Bucks can limit the Clips to fewer than 20 dunks
My first game at Staples, but expectations are minimal. Bucks have been getting killed by second chances so far, a big change from the past couple seasons. Can only hope the Clips take them lightly, but with all the guys missing it’s more likely that the Bucks take the collar on the road trip and are 2-6 by the time they leave Phoenix tomorrow night.
Good luck this season, will be rooting for you out West.
Frank Madden - January 7, 2012
Hey Frank
Are you in Staples? Are you in the press room?
Steve Perrin - January 7, 2012
Dang, how does San Antonio DO IT?
Leading Denver comfortably…
