I''ve been waiting all day for our own international man of mystery, Lawler's Law to put up the Daily Clipper. I guess he's off doing whatever men of mystery do. Anyway here's some stuff I collected today.
Magic Vs. Warriors: Hack-a-Dwight Yields An Orlando Victory And A Record - SBNation.com In case you missed it Fearless Leader tells us why Mark Jackson's strategy last night was dopey.
Biasotti: Clippers on rise, but a few player short This guy in the Ventura County Star says the Clips are in the middle of the most important two-game stretch in franchise history.
Clippers gear up to play Lakers on Saturday - latimes.com They're calling it the "Battle of L.A." ' shared home court, Staples Center. The Clippers are coming off a 95-89 overtime win
Clippers Week 2: 1/12 - ESPN Los Angeles It's a podcast from Kevin Arnovitz and Jordan Heimer... and they interview David Thorpe who is not a believer. Only for the strong of heart.
Los Angeles Clippers 30-year climb to relevance - ESPN Los Angeles Mike Downey on the history of the Clips. Nothing new for us old-timers but perhaps the bandwagoners need a dose of history.
Rihanna Skips People's Choice Awards For Clippers Game We all know where the lovely Rihanna WAS on Wednesday night. Here's an article about where she WAS NOT. She obviously made the right choice.

Rihanna really has the hots for Blake Griffin
shay - January 13, 2012
Rihanna was at the Clippers/Heat Game last year too.
Along with a bunch of body guards leading her to the limo after the game. Her presence is more about the Heat being here than watching the Clippers. I have seen her in the front row in Miami also.
PV Mike - January 13, 2012
shes friends with LeBron
considering LeBron has a home out here her, Bron, Wade, and Paul probably all hung out after
bacek - January 13, 2012
Reggie Evans probably hung out with Billy Crystal and Penny Marshall after the game at Denny's
PV Mike - January 13, 2012
billy crystal jumped on his back and exclaimed
“so this is what it’s like to be tall!”
bacek - January 13, 2012
random
but last night I was at a restaurant in Santa Monica and Rihanna was at the table next to us. She ate alone, had some good food and wine all by her pretty self for a couple hours. Must be no Clipper love since we had the night off.
chrisd - January 13, 2012
wasn't there reports
she had her people try and get Blake’s number or something last year, haha. Probably nothing but tabloid fodder.
osamu - January 13, 2012
He's good friends with Matt Kemp, who Rihanna was with last year.
Bros before hoes? or ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none?
Lawler 4ever - January 14, 2012
lmao
KillaClip - January 14, 2012 via mobile
She should bring Shy Ronnie to the next game
ganima - January 13, 2012
In response to the "a few players short" link
we should reach out to Rasheed Wallace if he’s serious about making a comeback. Low Risk, High Reward.
phitePSEF - January 13, 2012
Uh... he hasn't played in eighteen months...
And he dogged his way through his last year with the Celts.
John Raffo - January 13, 2012
he averaged 9/4/1 in 22 minutes
that’s not too bad, especially when we pair him with Reggie, who is all rebounding.
LJ Hann - January 13, 2012
and played in 79 games
no small feat for a guy about to retire
LJ Hann - January 13, 2012
no thanks
he did nothing but bring the celtics down
jon y - January 13, 2012
I'd rather have him playing 6-10 minutes a night than Cookie
phitePSEF - January 13, 2012
Sheed played with billups in detroit.
they won a title together in detroit, wouldn’t mind seeing him here.
ThaFoX - January 13, 2012 via Android app
bring in the sheed
KillaClip - January 14, 2012 via mobile
"Warriors sign Earl Barron due to Kwame Brown's season ending injury"
It’s whatever… I would’ve took SJ over him anyways.
ClipperBEAST - January 13, 2012
Where is that?
Is that up in something I posted? Kwame’s done?
John Raffo - January 13, 2012
Nah, you didnt post it...I live in the bay area so I get all the Warriors news
They also released their back up point guard Ish Smith.
ClipperBEAST - January 13, 2012
Kwame out 3 months with dislocated shoulder
PV Mike - January 13, 2012
weren't they about to sign
fesenko? in the off season anyways? What happened to that. Maybe something really came out w/ Fesenko where they don’t even want to revisit that.
osamu - January 13, 2012
I hope Kylie Irving runs the Lakers old legs ragged tonite.
Surprising Cavs are 5-5 (3-4 on the road).
PV Mike - January 13, 2012
is that an intentional mis-spelling of his first name?
I obviously hope he doesn’t turn into a superstar. Otherwise, trade would have been Baron and him to get back Mo and Caron Butler (via cap room created).
oasisman - January 13, 2012
whats done is done
And that’s what the trade ultimately was. It hurts because the Clips would have a awesome bench if they sat pat.
ClipperChuck - January 13, 2012 via mobile
It's hard to know
would we have made the CP3 trade? Would DTS amnesty Baron? Would we still want CP3 AND Kyrie? Would we have gotten the #1 pick if we kept it? There’s alot of variables in there.
LJ Hann - January 13, 2012
No we wouldn't have CP3
But we would have BD
Jax - January 13, 2012
LOL
and this is based on nothing
ClipperChuck - January 13, 2012
so is your assumption
BelgianClipper - January 13, 2012
How so
they traded trade assets.
Burden is on Jax to show how CP3’s trade and Baron’s trade are tied together when none of the trade assets given to the Hornets came from that trade.
ClipperChuck - January 14, 2012
I've explained it before
Why do you care? Oh yeah you ripped Olshey at the time and you would look foolish. Only way is if BD was amnestied which would never happen (nor should it). Great they found a sucker.
Jax - January 14, 2012
No you look foolish
you still cant explain why the trade had to be made in February. You desperately try to talk down Irving and how weak the draft was etc etc. Obviously you are wrong all on fronts as usual.
ClipperChuck - January 14, 2012
Good questions
we’ll never know. We do know we should have waited until the draft lottery at the very least.
Also we know the 2010 free agents all suck badly.
ClipperChuck - January 13, 2012
That last sentence is totally germane to the discussion.
ReignMan - January 13, 2012
Not if you follow my original comments
Would be nice if we had 1-2 nice rotation worthy players with the 9.5 million spent on free agents in 2010. Instead we pretty much wrote them off.
ClipperChuck - January 14, 2012
Yah of you waited Gilbert would have wised up
Weve discussed this before ad nauseum
Jax - January 14, 2012
rihanna
must have secured us home court advantage for the finals
CLIPPERDEAN - January 13, 2012
O/T
Cavs are orchestrating a 3rd quarter comebakc against the Lakers
LJ Hann - January 13, 2012
i agree with david thorpe...
why are they arent playing pick and roll….too much pick and pop for blake….let his game evolve more slowly instead of forcing him to take too many jumpers
nauticazn25 - January 13, 2012
As he also said
I think it has to do with Reggie/DJ always clogging up space in the middle. Something Kaman didn’t do.
LJ Hann - January 13, 2012
it was the same issue with Kaman
Teams did not double Mo off the pick (though Mo and Blake rarely ran it) they collapsed onto Blake when he caught the ball if he dished it to Kaman he either missed the shot or traveled trying to create or mis handling the ball.
KillaClip - January 14, 2012 via mobile
OT but Kaman was 0-10 last night
ouch
chrisd - January 14, 2012
I watch a lot of the Hornets games
and Kaman is playing exactly like he did as a Clipper. One game he is an All Star followed by a horrible game, poor decision making and some Mr. Flippy type plays under the basket.
PV Mike - January 14, 2012
+1
i’ve been asking myself this since the 2nd game of the season!
Lawler's Law - January 13, 2012
if Blake can make it work
it will open up the paint. Now his defender plays off him, cutting off the paint.
Now is the time to make it work. 2 month down the road it is crunch time and much more difficult to incorporate stuff like that.
I don’t really know what the problem is: he is still averaging the same ppg and at a higher shooting %. His shooting from looks good, so I’m guessing he’ll hit those open jumpers even at a higher rate in the future. Once that happens they’ll have to guard him more closely and he’ll be able to take advantage of that.
BelgianClipper - January 13, 2012
the only issue I have with it
is I didn’t understand him saying DJ should work on his outside shot to open up the lane for the P&R for Blake? But aren’t they doing like the opposite, with Blake opening up the lane for DJ? Not saying I’d run a lot of plays for DJ on the offensive end, but still, seemed odd to me, no way DJ becomes a threat from even 4 ft away from the basket this season. I agree there needs to be more rolls, and better timing on the cuts, but why not have DJ be the roll man more often.
osamu - January 14, 2012
Except for maybe a last second shot
has DJ ever shot the ball farther than 5-6 feet from the basket. I do not recall seeing him ever shoot a jump shot. Maybe he has and I am just blocking it from my mind.
PV Mike - January 14, 2012
blake sets weak picks
He barely blocks the path of the defender which makes it hard for Paul to get a good look. Also Blake does not try to roll as often the spacing is there because teams try to double Paul on the pick so Blake has the space to drive to or drive and kick.
KillaClip - January 14, 2012 via mobile
Cummings and goings...
Regarding the ESPNLA link, I never knew Terry Cummings had heart issues (I was 5 when they traded him). Not at all surprising given the history of the franchise, but still. Did they know it when they traded him?
chimichanga - January 13, 2012
With the whole Not-WednesdayGate
and the back-to-back-to-back postings of post-game/preview/USA bball posts, I was off my ‘game’ this week!…Anyhow, you always seem to find stuff i’d never put up. I like that podcast…good job!
Lawler's Law - January 13, 2012
I just assumed you were off taking care of things in far-off worlds....
So I stepped into the vacuum of your notable absence.
John Raffo - January 14, 2012
Biasotti is right
Where can we find an above average backup defensive-minded wing? What is Quintin Ross doing these days?
Cliptomaniac - January 13, 2012
Keith Bogans is still out there
seems like a no-brainer to me
ganima - January 13, 2012
Would Bogans sign for the minimum?
And will Vinny put him on the floor?
Olshey brought in Gomes, Cook, and Foye and the rookies, their his boys and the first three have guaranteed contracts. I suspect the world hasn’t quite changed to the point where DTS is going to waive guys with guarantees. Which means you’d have to commit to a guy who is an offensive liability in your last roster spot.
Despite all that, I suspect we’ll see something happen around the time that the non-guarantees have to become guaranteed. I think it’s February ninth. (The non-guarantees are Thompkins, Leslie, Jones). I think Olshey’s sitting on his cards until he HAS to make a move. The jury’s still out on Mo-as-sixth-man, or whether or not Gomes or Foye (or Cook) will be productive, or the extent of Bledsoe’s injury.
John Raffo - January 14, 2012
KEBO!!!!!!!
