Los Angeles Clippers- Miami Heat Postgame Thread

Crazy, crazy, crazy game and I need to squeeze this in here quickly. DJ just threw down a dunk with 6 seconds left, and I am assuming that this game is over. Erik Spoelstra just picked up two technical fouls and got ejected.

Steve will be here with a recap later on, but this is your postgame thread for now.

The Clippers were behind for most of the game before a monster third quarter that gave them a 1 point lead. After playing good defense throughout the fourth, Chris Paul missed a floater as time expired and we went to overtime.

The Clippers played well in overtime and won the period 9-3.

Here's some quick stats:

Chris Paul: 27 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals

Blake Griffin: 20 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

Caron Butler: 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist

DeAndre Jordan: 8 points, 11 rebounds, 6 blocks

And there's my 150 words. Talk below.

And guys, Club O is alive and well. Please bring your same passion and excitement to the Lakers game and every other game this season in the threads. It is great.

Would have been risky.

But it would be AWESOME if DeAndre fed Blake a nice alley-oop at the end! :)

nah.

after what DJ did to help save the game, he deserves it.

DJ DUNKED IN THE END?
Haha agreed.

I just imagined a lob to Griffin and them just standing there like beasts.

yeah I saw that too.

but I’m glad jordan got it.

WE BEAT THE F#CKING HEAT!!!!!!
and they show how class less they are.
Naw.

I think Spoelstra lost his cool, but Wade and James were classy at the end of the game. They congratulated the other team; I think Spoelstra will soon realize that his team DIDN’T foul.

ya spo just kinda lost it, i don't mind him getting caught in the moment
And this is the only time we play them during the regular season.

So that must mean we will be favorites to win the finals when we play them, right?

Im stoked we beat them with out "Lob City" play.
oh we had one for sure, CP3 to Blake over a few Heat players. It was sick.
That nasty no-look?

Hell yeah!

blake needed to get his

against chalmers. Last time, he settled for the stare down, not the poster.

Repost From Game Thread

CP3 Just Said DJ Was Unbelievable – Sounds Good To Me

that is why he wanted to be here

DJ is a younger version of Chandler.

Better Than Reggie
Griffin kinda disappeared offensively in the 2nd half but that's when DJ came to play.

Any clue why DJ went to the locker room for a hot minute in the 2nd half? Did he have to pee?

that is atually a good bet

an injury would have been longer. maybe he split a sneaker or something

Maybe He Forgot to Charge His iPhone
maybe he tweeted he was going to have some huge blocks and a dunk at the end
yeah I didn't like dj in the beginning of the game but he played better in second half.
Overall, a solid game played by the Clippers (except the last minutes of regulation)

They really fought for their win. Even with Billups’ off night and Caron’s slow start, the Clippers showed their strengths. DeAndre did his job on defense and the boards; he fought for every ball and he shut down anyone with the hopes of making an easy layup. Griffin scored quiet nicely and he really gave Bosh a hard time (for the most part). Butler knocked down his shots and just kept with it even when he was missing. Billups.. I’ll be honest, he had the weakest performances out of the starters, but his free throws were no doubt GREAT. He really did his job on the line, I just wish he made his open shots. CP3. Well, must I say anything? He scored, passed, and kept the ball secure. There defense fought hard the whole game and they never really slowed down. If they didn’t get a call, they played defense; if they missed a shot, got down on defense. Overall, a solid game played.

Yes, let's be honest!

Billups didn’t just have an off night. He chucked up the ball whenever he got it, whether he was open or not. That’s gotta stop so Blake can get more touches!

yeah I'm not seen a lot of chemistry between billups and blake
All fanaticism put aside

Was it really goaltending?

i honestly can't tell for sure so you got to go with the initial call
I think it was right about at its peak.

The call could have gone either way. But LeBron traveled, so I don’t feel bad.

the one angle

it looke flat. but the other angles showed that it was headed for the glass, so no goaltend

don't know

one view looked like a solid no with it going towards the basket. The second, it looked like it was going down.

yes

it was but lebron got away with 4 step travel earlier play

refs need watch his pivot foot closer.

He travels a lot

meh

don’t think it was a point of emphasis this year. Wallace got away with it a lot yesterday too. This year is the year of the and1’s, where supposedly the rules changed. Haven’t really seen it take effect, though one of Lebron’s shots this game should’ve fallen under the new rules this year, where he was awarded a shooting foul, but whatever, I hate the rules where they emphasize something for the first 10 games, then it’s back to business as usual for the rest of the season. Remember that one year, where you were assessed a tech when you even like raised your arms after a foul? haha.

yeah that was comedy the beginning of that year.
i couldnt even watch the replay

dont know why im usually pretty good at admitting when the clips get the benefit of the doubt

i cant remember the last time i was this into a game.

goal tending all the way....

…no question. But ill just chalk it up as scratch for the bad call they gave for lebron as foul call, when he took for steps in the key and then got blocked cleanly

I was most impressed with...

Caron Butler: dude is a bonafide stud…still.

I was also impressed with Vinnie leaving the starters in towards the end only really going with Reggie mostly. Shows the other players; only that cats that know how to do their job right get in during crunch time: Coffee’s for closers!

Props to VDN for not putting in Cookie in the 2nd half
+1

best coaching of the year so far

butler has been absolutely fantastic

just dont put the ball on the floor much unless you’re getting an open look in rhythm and dribbling into a mid range shot. butler should not be getting iso calls in our starters unless it’s a scramble play.

Comment from someone on ESPN site
the clippers didnt prove anything tonight, except that they have hubie brown as their #1 cheerleader
god I love people

I understand that I am smarter basketball-wise than the vast majority of people so I just laugh at stupidity like that.

an obvious Heat fan
+1
or a Laker's fan.
I don't think any legit Laker fan would cheer for the Heat

Especially against the Clippers

only the dumb laker fans

as much as we hate to admit it, there are smart laker fans, our purple and yellow counterparts. The problem is that the Lakers also have a lot of people who don’t know about basketball who aren’t ‘real’ fans

lol, kinda true though

We beat the Heat last year and didn’t do much. we just need to take this win and continue to beat good teams, especially in our own home. I watched the game on ESPN and i love Hubie. Hubie & Ralph together would be great (sorry Mike, but you have 20 kids to take care of).

Didn't prove anything?

I think they proved that they could keep their heads even when they didn’t get the calls. I think they proved that they can bang with the best of them. I think they proved that they are willing to FIGHT the WHOLE game to win.

no I love mike smith smarter than most.
is this espn game being replayed?

i watched milph, i wanna hear what hubie had to say too though

I'll take Hubie

one of the smartest in the game. “Clips, need to pass an IQ test to be a fan”. That should be the motto.

Hubie is awesome and I'm not saying that because he likes the Clippers.

He forgets more than what most people will ever know about basketball.

Those guys on the bench...

…were in the games at the end last year, which is why we lost so many games

Staples was so freaking loud

my voice is gone from so much screaming and cheering. I love the Clippers so much right now

was it as loud as they're saying on tv?
hell yea it was loud! lost my voice too
+1
What a game

I keep asking myself if this win felt better than our win against the Heat last year. I’ve decided that they’re both equally awesome… Last year’s win came out of nowhere and showed our potential with Blake, tonight’s win felt like the first of many.

tonight because of the hype

national tv, close physical game. Last year, while awesome, felt like a trap game for Miami. This year we were better than them.

they were ready for us, we didnt sneak up on them

hell we were losing most a good chunk of this game and looked simply outmatched in the first half.

last year it’s like we jumped on them unsuspectingly and they just gradually chipped away, but couldnt get all the way back. they were ready for us tonight. and still lost.

feels great

The Guys At ESPN Hate Staying Up to 2 AM To Watch the Clippers LOL
Let's hope this defense and tenacity carries over to Saturday.

Let’s go Lakers, WE ARE READY!

next game, battle over LA!
I'm so pumped!!!!!

It was close but we managed to pull it out. While it wasn’t pretty, I will take any win I can get against Miami.

the good news, Fake Show coming off a back to back while we get some days off
Another one

Comment:

a regular season game that meant way more to clippers than heat, pace the season out and come to play in the playoffs

Response:

Not true…I think the Heat took it pretty damn seriously given the intensity. I think it meant a lot to them and the Heat fans. It’s okay to try and save face though!
u know, with all the negative comments towards the Clippers just mean they fear us

go Clips!

Yep

Funny thing is the fact that pundits, analysts and coaches are taking the Clippers seriously now.

its like all the crap we talk about the Fakers cuz we know they are a tough team
Say what you will but

Lakers are tough and for reals…

kobe is playin lights out and he's gonna try his best this saturday against clips!
He is playing lights out but

the rest of his team is playing horribly, going into the overtime Kobe was the only Laker in double figures.

Bynum saved them in overtime

Kobe went into the give me the ball mode at the end that included no one else in the offense.

yeah ridiculous comment.

Heat were totally invested and why wouldn’t they be.

Their intensity was even higher because of their loss last night.

Honestly, if we played like THIS yesterday, we would only have 2 losses!

road games are always tough though

if this game was in Miami, no doubt they take it. Sorry to be a downer, but it was a tough win, which makes it all the more sweet.

yee p left the media room
Heat fans

are claiming that Wade and Lebron had an off night. I guess they had one last night too.

Chauncey had an off night
oh, and Cookie had an off night too, so there.
Cookie has been off all season.
Cook had an off career
Cook had an off life
cookie was off in his previous life!
Those two are as big of babies as their fans.
espn
Chris Paul topped 25 points and 10 assists for the 54th time in his career. That breaks a tie with LeBron James for most games with 25 pts and 10 ast since the 2005-06 season. ]Most Games With 25 Pts, 10+ Ast – Since 2005-06 Season
Chris Paul 54
LeBron James 53
Deron Williams 50
Chris Paul and Blake Griffin combined to score 30 points on 12-for-21 shooting in the 1st half… The rest of the team combined for 13 points on 4-for-22 shooting.
I love that he beat Lebron for that against Lebron. That's just awesome.
Nice note

Celebs attending included Rihanna, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Sinbad, Gabrielle Union, and former Los Angeles Angels teammates Jered Weaver and John Lackey.

saw Weaver with dain blanton earlier on telecast talking about new additions to clips and angels
Yeah I saw the interview too
Angels + Clippers for life.

Although I only watch the Angel’s 9th inning…..

+1

im not as religious with the angels as i am with the clips, but they’re easily my fav squad in another sport aside from bball

i saw aziz ansari sitting behind scorer's table
as an angels fan

i would hate to hear weaver talking about john lackey.. screw him

Also some NFL players came out too like my boy LeSean McCoy, Darrelle Revis, Larry Fitzgerald, and Ndamukong Suh.

Clippers – Lakers Sat
Bruins – Trojans Sun
MLK basketball Mon

Didn't Griffin go berserk on MLK day last year?
Indiana?
yup

the game where he didnt have one dunk i believe but had his career high

he got one dunk

it was baron who flipped it to blake while he was under the basket on a miscue by the pacers

yep

great game. Blake got a dream.

isn't this year against NJ

who is playing awful.

and Dwill/Lopez are out right?
he had 47 surf!

his best game so far in his career.

But FIRST!

The Lakers face a BIG test when the Cavs come to town!

lol, Kyrie is gonna be good for y'all.

And thanks for cursing LBJ’s free throws.

yeah

I thank you for not doing what Laker fans and Warrior fans do, which is make jokes about Kyrie leaving for South Beach.

I'm a Duke fan so I like him.

I wasn’t so sure about the Thompson pick but they are looking to be solid players for y’all. Plus, any team that pays Baron Davis money not to play for them is a team I can root for.

LOL

Yeah, some Cavs fans wanted Baron to stay. Me, not so much. He did some nice things for the Cavs, but he’s not in the equation to return to respectability.

I hope you guys beat us. I want the Cavs to tank; they need more pieces. Kyrie and Thompson are working out well, but the others are not. Omri Casspi is worse now than he was in Sacramento.

lol, i hope we beat you too.
I love this
The Clippers and the Warriors welcome you to California.
Pacific Division perfect against the Heat
lakers are gonna ruin it when they play
You said it so I don't have to
Just got back from the game and all i got to say is..............

Chris Sheridan u said clips would go 0-3 now you can lick my huevos.
If it feels good you can make them huevos rancheros. Good night guys
guys enjoy the victory and lets give the purple & Yellow a beat down on
saturday.

sheridan is such a new york tool
Screw Jimmy Kimmel too.
At least Kimmel is funny
22 assists on 36 field goals

love it

im so pumped u guys

i might just stay up and rewatch the espn feed to relive this game

I watched espn live

now watching ralph and mike replay on prime ticket

During last season, weren't there complaints about

Lebron traveling a lot?

*his whole career
You know you misspelled Angeles? :-)
where?
Thread title my friend...
am I blind?

to mee it reads the same as your name…

Los Anglels Clippers
hmm

The title says Los Angeles Clippers for me… the permalink says Los-anglels-clippers… why would the permalink be different?

Maybe it saved it that way the first time if you made any corrections before the

final save

dunno but it says Anglels
This is confusing me...

on my screen the title says angeles… but the link says anglels… i tried deleting the word angeles, then retyping it correctly and republishing… otherwise there is nothing I can do

No big deal, my friend. I did not mean

to create havoc. :-)

No thank you for pointing it out to me

i just wish that I could fix it

Just don't let it happen again... LOL
keep in to

LAoop Clippers

easier to spell

LeBron is known to take 1 or 2 extra steps.

Not to mention he slides his pivot foot, but everyone does that so I’ll let it slide.

You guys totally exposed LeBron.

Once you get past his charging to the basket and drawing contact, you see how unremarkable he is as a basketball player. He had 1 field goal the entire 4th quarter and OT. He barely made half his free throws. The game’s supposed greatest player didn’t close shit. Not even his own mouth. Speaking of which, how much complaining do James and Wade have to do to get a technical?!

I think LeBron is one hell of an athlete

But I think we learned how to play solid defense on him. All you gotta do is… PUT YOUR HANDS UP! That seemed to teach him!

The rule change helped.

he gets most of his FT from forcing contact which is no longer suppose to be a call.

Didn't it feel SO much better to beat a COMPLETE Heat team.

There was all that speculation that Wade wouldn’t play GSW or Clippers, but then the media would have been saying, The Clippers beat the 2/3s of the Heat.

That would still make the Clippers superior to the Hawks.
Any wins against the Heat is good.

I still expect to here from the media that the win was more to do with the Heat having an off night than anything we did.

Is it me or is Battier a punk

just the way he was acting, hacking, fouling. I use to like the guy, but would not shed a tear if someone clobbered him.

He never should have gone to Miami

LePew’s attitude is rubbing off on him and Norris Cole. Also, thank you Clippers for making Norris Cole completely useless.

I liked Battier.

But I agree, it seems as if he felt it was going to be some sort of easy ride and he was just going to carpool in the back with a bunch of people to the finals. Also, Cole seemed to have a really off night. Although I accredit it to CP3 and Billups experience on drawing fouls.

yeah he got abused
sure, like Battier's yanking om the jersey, id accept if he was on this team

…his constant tapping to the ref that he fouled Blake and NOT Chauncey was preposterous. Get back to your side. You made your case.

well I don't mind his argument

but it wasn’t a shooting foul so it didn’t matter anyways!

ESPN is

giving an A

The game is probably over if the Clippers secure a defensive rebound off LeBron’s first critical miss from the free-throw line, but don’t discount the defensive effort in the clutch by the Clippers. With Paul steadily guiding the offense and DeAndre Jordan protecting the paint and sending away shots, the Clippers more than earned their victory against the league’s most talented team.
I can't go to sleep I'm super excited

We still still lost the battle for boards, but came up with the win! Does anyone now why Salamon Jones hasn’t played?

Turning point of the game?

playing Reggie Evans and DJ in the 3rd. without their spark, we lose

defensive gargoyles
Reggie great pick-up. Dude is a rebounding machine
23 pts for lebron

which is below season average. Yea it’s not the 12 pts or whatever they held him to the last home game, but still glad to see his average against the clips is probably the lowest in the league.

Just got back from the game

Some questionable calls down the stretch in regulation. Great energy in the building tonight, even with the ugly game. Can’t wait for Saturday. I’ll be there!

Reggie Evans needs to legally change his name to

Rebound Evans

…he can keep his initials

Rebound Everything
Great win everybody!

goodnight

Why is everybody surprised that LeBron missed his free throws?

He has never been a great free throw shooter, but why would that change? Also, all of the Heat fans are blaming the refs…… Really have no comment. All I can tell them. Watch Griffin’s missed throw in dunk and then the “clear path foul”

I'm not surprised

Neither he nor Wade nor Bosh have ever been reliable free throw shooters. The Heat fans have no one to blame but their precious LeBron. He was the one who fouled Chauncy on a 3 point attempt.

hes been much better this year

about 80% before this game i believe

the law of averages ain't helping him
i thought u replied to ur own post lol

the p and the y look very similar

Blake and CP3 got hammered on several ocassions and didn't get calls
cause LBJ is shooting over 75% this season.

but since he’s Mr. Choke I’m not surprised.

or Battier pulling his jersey to deny a key rebound?
or Griffin being thrown down

by Battier on that missed free throw.

Or Bron’s walk.

or the bs foul on DJ’s block.

Or Chauncy hardly touching Wade as he went to the basket.
im surprised a superstar this good

has no fire, no clutchness, no competitive drive…

things like this is why i can never accept LeBron as the next Jordan

heck, id still put Kobe over LeBron for this reason alone

I have to admit

I really liked how Reggie was playing. His rotations were crisp. He boxed out for rebounds and he set solid screens. Something both Deandre and Blake need to learn from him. Reggies screens almost always freed Paul. It was beautiful. I want more Reggie.

ALSO...

Reggie showed that he knows how to play the game, that he knows how to take of the ball. He showed he knows that he is a nonscoring big and that he knows who to give the ball to and when.

He plays really good defense.

We may end up running an eight man rotation when that one guy comes back; Reggie, Mo and Bledsoe.

Reggie also can apply pressure to a player

like when he forced Chalmers to take a TO at the perimeter

won.'t happen

you can’t do that in this season. Gomes will get minutes because we need a wing… In that rotation we have 4 guards 1 wing 3 bigs… Likely foye will not see a lot of time unless someone is out…. Hopefully trey/cook/Solomon can play well enough to support down low

I loved seeing Reggie give Blake a hug when Griff subbed him out in the 4th. Seemed like a message was being sent – Mess with BG and you answer to Reggie

or that it confirms that Reggie is a very touchy feely kind of guy

maybe he whispered in his ear….grab those balls for me while im on the bench
