Crazy, crazy, crazy game and I need to squeeze this in here quickly. DJ just threw down a dunk with 6 seconds left, and I am assuming that this game is over. Erik Spoelstra just picked up two technical fouls and got ejected.
Steve will be here with a recap later on, but this is your postgame thread for now.
The Clippers were behind for most of the game before a monster third quarter that gave them a 1 point lead. After playing good defense throughout the fourth, Chris Paul missed a floater as time expired and we went to overtime.
The Clippers played well in overtime and won the period 9-3.
Here's some quick stats:
Chris Paul: 27 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals
Blake Griffin: 20 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
Caron Butler: 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist
DeAndre Jordan: 8 points, 11 rebounds, 6 blocks
And there's my 150 words. Talk below.
And guys, Club O is alive and well. Please bring your same passion and excitement to the Lakers game and every other game this season in the threads. It is great.

Would have been risky.
But it would be AWESOME if DeAndre fed Blake a nice alley-oop at the end! :)

Haha agreed.
I just imagined a lob to Griffin and them just standing there like beasts.

mustang6944 - January 11, 2012
Naw.
I think Spoelstra lost his cool, but Wade and James were classy at the end of the game. They congratulated the other team; I think Spoelstra will soon realize that his team DIDN’T foul.
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
ya spo just kinda lost it, i don't mind him getting caught in the moment
shap - January 11, 2012
And this is the only time we play them during the regular season.
So that must mean we will be favorites to win the finals when we play them, right?
chrisd - January 11, 2012
Im stoked we beat them with out "Lob City" play.
Akram47 - January 11, 2012
oh we had one for sure, CP3 to Blake over a few Heat players. It was sick.

Griffin kinda disappeared offensively in the 2nd half but that's when DJ came to play.
Any clue why DJ went to the locker room for a hot minute in the 2nd half? Did he have to pee?

ThaFoX - January 12, 2012 via Android app
Overall, a solid game played by the Clippers (except the last minutes of regulation)
They really fought for their win. Even with Billups’ off night and Caron’s slow start, the Clippers showed their strengths. DeAndre did his job on defense and the boards; he fought for every ball and he shut down anyone with the hopes of making an easy layup. Griffin scored quiet nicely and he really gave Bosh a hard time (for the most part). Butler knocked down his shots and just kept with it even when he was missing. Billups.. I’ll be honest, he had the weakest performances out of the starters, but his free throws were no doubt GREAT. He really did his job on the line, I just wish he made his open shots. CP3. Well, must I say anything? He scored, passed, and kept the ball secure. There defense fought hard the whole game and they never really slowed down. If they didn’t get a call, they played defense; if they missed a shot, got down on defense. Overall, a solid game played.
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
Yes, let's be honest!
Billups didn’t just have an off night. He chucked up the ball whenever he got it, whether he was open or not. That’s gotta stop so Blake can get more touches!
briguyx - January 11, 2012
yeah I'm not seen a lot of chemistry between billups and blake
ThaFoX - January 12, 2012 via Android app
All fanaticism put aside
Was it really goaltending?
kikyexcel - January 11, 2012
i honestly can't tell for sure so you got to go with the initial call
chrisd - January 11, 2012
I think it was right about at its peak.
The call could have gone either way. But LeBron traveled, so I don’t feel bad.
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
the one angle
it looke flat. but the other angles showed that it was headed for the glass, so no goaltend
LJ Hann - January 11, 2012
don't know
one view looked like a solid no with it going towards the basket. The second, it looked like it was going down.
mustang6944 - January 11, 2012

it was but lebron got away with 4 step travel earlier play
big0lbad - January 11, 2012

He travels a lot
kingjames10 - January 11, 2012 via mobile
meh
don’t think it was a point of emphasis this year. Wallace got away with it a lot yesterday too. This year is the year of the and1’s, where supposedly the rules changed. Haven’t really seen it take effect, though one of Lebron’s shots this game should’ve fallen under the new rules this year, where he was awarded a shooting foul, but whatever, I hate the rules where they emphasize something for the first 10 games, then it’s back to business as usual for the rest of the season. Remember that one year, where you were assessed a tech when you even like raised your arms after a foul? haha.
osamu - January 11, 2012
yeah that was comedy the beginning of that year.
ThaFoX - January 12, 2012 via Android app
i couldnt even watch the replay
dont know why im usually pretty good at admitting when the clips get the benefit of the doubt
i cant remember the last time i was this into a game.
shap - January 11, 2012
goal tending all the way....
…no question. But ill just chalk it up as scratch for the bad call they gave for lebron as foul call, when he took for steps in the key and then got blocked cleanly
Takebb909 - January 11, 2012 via mobile
I was most impressed with...
Caron Butler: dude is a bonafide stud…still.
I was also impressed with Vinnie leaving the starters in towards the end only really going with Reggie mostly. Shows the other players; only that cats that know how to do their job right get in during crunch time: Coffee’s for closers!

just dont put the ball on the floor much unless you’re getting an open look in rhythm and dribbling into a mid range shot. butler should not be getting iso calls in our starters unless it’s a scramble play.

only the dumb laker fans
as much as we hate to admit it, there are smart laker fans, our purple and yellow counterparts. The problem is that the Lakers also have a lot of people who don’t know about basketball who aren’t ‘real’ fans
LJ Hann - January 12, 2012
lol, kinda true though
We beat the Heat last year and didn’t do much. we just need to take this win and continue to beat good teams, especially in our own home. I watched the game on ESPN and i love Hubie. Hubie & Ralph together would be great (sorry Mike, but you have 20 kids to take care of).
chrisd - January 11, 2012
Didn't prove anything?
I think they proved that they could keep their heads even when they didn’t get the calls. I think they proved that they can bang with the best of them. I think they proved that they are willing to FIGHT the WHOLE game to win.

What a game
I keep asking myself if this win felt better than our win against the Heat last year. I’ve decided that they’re both equally awesome… Last year’s win came out of nowhere and showed our potential with Blake, tonight’s win felt like the first of many.
TPan - January 11, 2012
tonight because of the hype
national tv, close physical game. Last year, while awesome, felt like a trap game for Miami. This year we were better than them.
LJ Hann - January 11, 2012
they were ready for us, we didnt sneak up on them
hell we were losing most a good chunk of this game and looked simply outmatched in the first half.
last year it’s like we jumped on them unsuspectingly and they just gradually chipped away, but couldnt get all the way back. they were ready for us tonight. and still lost.
feels great

LeBron is known to take 1 or 2 extra steps.
Not to mention he slides his pivot foot, but everyone does that so I’ll let it slide.
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
You guys totally exposed LeBron.
Once you get past his charging to the basket and drawing contact, you see how unremarkable he is as a basketball player. He had 1 field goal the entire 4th quarter and OT. He barely made half his free throws. The game’s supposed greatest player didn’t close shit. Not even his own mouth. Speaking of which, how much complaining do James and Wade have to do to get a technical?!
WaveOcean - January 11, 2012
I think LeBron is one hell of an athlete
But I think we learned how to play solid defense on him. All you gotta do is… PUT YOUR HANDS UP! That seemed to teach him!
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
The rule change helped.
he gets most of his FT from forcing contact which is no longer suppose to be a call.
mustang6944 - January 11, 2012
Didn't it feel SO much better to beat a COMPLETE Heat team.
There was all that speculation that Wade wouldn’t play GSW or Clippers, but then the media would have been saying, The Clippers beat the 2/3s of the Heat.
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
That would still make the Clippers superior to the Hawks.
WaveOcean - January 11, 2012
Any wins against the Heat is good.
I still expect to here from the media that the win was more to do with the Heat having an off night than anything we did.
mustang6944 - January 11, 2012
Is it me or is Battier a punk
just the way he was acting, hacking, fouling. I use to like the guy, but would not shed a tear if someone clobbered him.
mustang6944 - January 11, 2012
He never should have gone to Miami
LePew’s attitude is rubbing off on him and Norris Cole. Also, thank you Clippers for making Norris Cole completely useless.
WaveOcean - January 11, 2012
I liked Battier.
But I agree, it seems as if he felt it was going to be some sort of easy ride and he was just going to carpool in the back with a bunch of people to the finals. Also, Cole seemed to have a really off night. Although I accredit it to CP3 and Billups experience on drawing fouls.
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
yeah he got abused
banandy - January 11, 2012
sure, like Battier's yanking om the jersey, id accept if he was on this team

Why is everybody surprised that LeBron missed his free throws?
He has never been a great free throw shooter, but why would that change? Also, all of the Heat fans are blaming the refs…… Really have no comment. All I can tell them. Watch Griffin’s missed throw in dunk and then the “clear path foul”
SurfinQ00 - January 11, 2012
I'm not surprised
Neither he nor Wade nor Bosh have ever been reliable free throw shooters. The Heat fans have no one to blame but their precious LeBron. He was the one who fouled Chauncy on a 3 point attempt.

KidJustin - January 12, 2012
I have to admit
I really liked how Reggie was playing. His rotations were crisp. He boxed out for rebounds and he set solid screens. Something both Deandre and Blake need to learn from him. Reggies screens almost always freed Paul. It was beautiful. I want more Reggie.

Reggie showed that he knows how to play the game, that he knows how to take of the ball. He showed he knows that he is a nonscoring big and that he knows who to give the ball to and when.
He plays really good defense.
We may end up running an eight man rotation when that one guy comes back; Reggie, Mo and Bledsoe.

Reggie also can apply pressure to a player
like when he forced Chalmers to take a TO at the perimeter

won.'t happen
you can’t do that in this season. Gomes will get minutes because we need a wing… In that rotation we have 4 guards 1 wing 3 bigs… Likely foye will not see a lot of time unless someone is out…. Hopefully trey/cook/Solomon can play well enough to support down low

I loved seeing Reggie give Blake a hug when Griff subbed him out in the 4th. Seemed like a message was being sent – Mess with BG and you answer to Reggie

or that it confirms that Reggie is a very touchy feely kind of guy
maybe he whispered in his ear….grab those balls for me while im on the bench
